Make-shift scraproom

My husband and I recently moved, so my scrapbook room is slowly being reassembled... but a girl can only go so long without being crafty. I have been having withdrawals!! Those that scrap understand, those that don't do not. I think the grils at work think I am a little off my rocker but I tried to explain to them it's like walking in everyday and having everything in your bedroom in boxes still. It has been almost two months since I have done anything crafty, I had such high hopes for the month of December. However since my scrapbook room started being put in boxes mid-November my visions of Christmas mini albums and beautiful cards were dashed.

But enough is enough!! I came home sick from work today and after about 4 hours of tv watching I decided there had to be something I could get out of a box to work on that wouldn't require me to turn everything upside down looking for the supplies I needed. And then I remembered...
A blank work book that spells "USC"... I've had it for months with good intentions... so I went for it...
Turned out pretty nice I think, quite proud of me... just takes a little push of boredom and look what comes of it... lots to do still until the finished product but a good start all the same.

And here was my make-shift scraproom... it will have to get me through for a few more days... dining room... phew who needs one... lol. Tomorrow is work holiday and I planned on scrapbooking so scrapbook I will.

Trying new things...

So today I dug my sewing machine out of the back of my closet and decided to give it a try. I was making a Bridal Shower page today and thought it would look great with a little stitching. It was a little scrary at first since I don't technically know how to sew, but I know enough basics to put some stitches on my page. I am quite proud of how it turned out. I also ventured out in the land of ink. I broke out my new Tim Holtz distress inks and blended some "Wild Honey" onto the edges of the paper. Two new fun things that were so easy but with such beautiful results.

Phew... 14 stores down!!

Many to go... this is my charm braclet, with charms from each of the stores that I have visited. I have quite a few new favorite stores here in Southern California, good thing they are kind of far away, or it might be a little dangerous for my wallet. The two stores that stand out the most in my mind so far are Remember When Scrapbooking in Valencia and Collective Journey in Redlands. Both very large stores with a great selection of product.
-
It has been lots of fun so far. On Friday I made it to 8 stores and only got lost twice. After the first time I became friends with my Magellan GPS, which I have since named Magdallena. She and I got along just fine, I learned to just listen and trust her and she got me to where I needed to be. Saturday my husband took me to 3 more stores and then 3 more again today. He even admits having a good time, and does comment when he sees a store he likes just as much as I do.
-
Well I am off to some more scrapbooking fun tomorrow with my LSS, something similar to a small CHA from what I understand. Cannot wait, and then maybe some more Shop Hop stores on the way back home.

Scrapbook stores here I come!

Today is the first day of the SoCal Shop Hop. It is a 3 week long shopping experience at Southern California scrapbooking and stamping stores that choose to participate. It is sooooo much fun. I love seeing all the different stores and their samples and just how they are decorated. They are all so different. Plus all the great things that you find. The picture is of my "passport", it's what gets me 20% off at the stores. I took the day off of work and now I'm headed out. Hopefully I will visit 9 stores today before they close. Last one closes at 10:30pm and the first one is 1.5 hours away, so I better scoot. Yeah!!

"Love Story" Mini Album

I absolutely love love love mini albums... I have tons and tons of things that I have bought to make mini albums. I could probably cover a whole wall with mini albums if I used all the supplies I had already. Am I always good at finishing them? No. Am I so proud of me for finishing one in 2 days? Y-E-S!! My downfall is usually adding the pictures. So this time I created a mini album for the pictures. The pictures in this album were the pictures that I framed and hung from ribbon on the backdrop behind the guestbook table at my recent wedding. The pictures used at the wedding were 8x10 versions of these pictures. I had printed 5x7's as well and decided to make a book to remember the pictures that I thought were special enough to display at our wedding. I am thrilled with how it turned out.

Cricut Cake!!!

Today was the first time I used my cricut cake. It went really well. I am taking cake decorating classes so I made lots of flowers today. I had to make some leaves so I finally brought out the cricut cake and used it for the first time. After the leaves were done I just did some fun stuff. I made 2 crowns and added decorations. I am very happy with the results and cannot wait to decorate a whole cake using the cricut cake.
(Sorry about poor picture quality, the phone was the only thing handy at the time)

DONE

Tonight I finished all my projects for the BoBunny design team submission. I think my favorite element is the letter above. It is actually a BoBunny product, used to make your own word albums. I used it to accent my new last name, Rosas. It was originally black, but I painted it green with some Making Memories acrylic paint. After it dried I stamped it in purple with one of the BoBunny stamps that matches this paper line. I'm pretty sure you'll see more of these letters show up on my projects and layouts.

New Scrapbook Do-Dads

UPS visited me today... my order from scrapbook.com came a day EARLY!!! How excited was I when I went on the tracking website and the estimated delivery day had been moved a day earlier. When does that ever happen??? I look like an advertisement for BoBunny, but that was kind of the point. I am applying for their design team and since the local scrapbook stores didn't have any embellishments to go with the paper lines, I had to order embellishments online. It's amazing what a few flowers, brads and stickers can add to a project. I'm workingon a mini-album and it needed a little more than paper.

More cards from scraps...

(BoBunny Sun Kissed Paper Line)
This is a quick card made from scraps again. Truth be honest these scraps came from the class I taught this last weekend. I had two little girls in my class and they through huge pieces of scrap into the trash. I'm guessing since they didn't pay for it, they don't value it as much as I do. I took it right back out and decided to make some cards with it. I have had 4 birthdays already this weekend and one more to come before the week is over. So needless to say, I've needed quite a few cards lately. I buy the solid color blank card with envelopes from the local craft store, then just add my design on the outside. So much easier on the wallet too, I figure each card costs me under 50 cents.

An even easier way to go are the predesigned blank cards. Little to no effort needed to make it usable. My husband gave me about 2 seconds to throw this one together. We were arleady running late to the party because of the class I was teaching.

Inspiration from pictures

I get so excited when I snap a picture that's different from the usual. An interesting subject that I can already mentally see the page in my head. Like this picture of my husband with a bib on and a huge pot of crab. I know I saw crab paper somewhere I cannot wait to make the layout!!

Almost Friday...

Man has this week taken forever to end!! I have been thinking about scrapbooking all week and have had very little time. This is just a simple birthday card I made. I've tried to get in the habit of making cards from scraps, when I finish a layout and have leftover pieces. It's been working out well since I have a large family, I ususally end up needing a birthday card or two per month.

Been busy BoBunny-ing...

So I have been working on lots of things BoBunny. Which is great because I LOVE their papers!! I am applying for their design team(fingers crossed). Here I go again with the Peacock Lane, I am so infatuated with this paper line. Granted I could be partial to it because it is the perfert colors for my wedding photos, purple and green. Either way, I just can't get over the beauty of the color combinations. This was a simple layout of my party favors and the labor of love that went into them.

Something creative...

So here's a little sneak peek at the BoBunny Sun Kissed mini album that I will be teaching at Scrapbook Blessings this month. It's a 6"x6" mini album and actually has 25 pages... so you can get a great amount of summer fun pictures in it.

And the Scrapbooking Continues... I LOVE Holiday Weekends

I completed 4 pages yesterday, but I have to say I wasn't terribly motivated. I watched some TV, cooked some food, cleaned a few things. What I didn't do was have a normal 4th of July... we didn't even see any fireworks. We did hear a lot though, our neighborhood is insane with illegal fireworks, it finally stopped at about 11:45pm which was nice for the dog's sake.

We opted out of all normal things this year for a day of complete nothingness... and it was NICE. I was in my scrapbook room pretty much all day and my husband was in front of the TV. We barbequed hamburgers, I made a cheese cake for dessert, but other than that nothing. And it will continue today... I'm setting a goal of 6 pages today. I plan on being a little more motivated. Truth be told the thing that held me up yesterday was the tv. In particular, the tv show The Singing Bee. Have you seen it? It comes on CMT and I love to play/sing along and see just how good I really am. Haha! Definitely not good enough to be on that show, but I enjoy singing.

Happy 5th of July... Scrapbook-on...

Happy 4th of July!!!

Hope everyone's day is great, I know mine will be. I plan on being a scrapbook bum ALL day!! I'm going to finish up my 7gypsies Artist Printers tray. I'm using the new BoBunny Peacock Lane line. I love the beautiful purple, green and teal colors. Enjoy the fireworks!!

Phase 1
Choosing your color and design scheme... it takes a lot more than cutting rectangles. Pictures are next.

Married and back up and running...

WOW it's been almost a month since I last posted anything... well here I go... Happy Memorial Day!! I spent my entire weekend being a bum and cleaning my scrapbook room. It's not complete yet, but looking better and better. I will be scrapbooking by next weekend for sure. But here is a tid bit more of the scraproom...

Letters are all the rage right now aren't they? Found this cool one on clearance... I LOVE it.  I might alter it eventually with some embellishments, but at least for right now it's up on the wall.

5 Days to go...

Only 5 days left until I get married. Man do I have a lot of scrapbooking to get caught up on. This will be short and sweet since I have things to do... but even in wedding planning I can find scrapbook stuff. LOL. This is the neat new ribbon I found today at some random store we were in for wedding knick knacks.

I thought it was so fun I got it in every color they had... just incase.

Scrapbook Room Part II

New cabinets.... YAH!!! How excited I am, cabinets, new counter top, I even got an electrical outlet installed above the counter top so I can plug things in. These cabinets were hand me downs. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. My uncle and aunt were going to rip them out of their garage I happen to be there talking about the ones I saw and wanted to buy and they offered me these for FREE!! Can't beat free!

My handyman installing my cabinets.

The finished product, check out the new electrical socket!

Time flys when you're planning a wedding!!

Wow it's been 6 days since I was on here last... but one more week to go until I am married.  Does it count that I think about adding stuff to my blog all the time (especially at work!!) but have just been too busy with the wedding to come close to it in a few days? I like posting my work online... I am very proud of the things I create, sometimes I even amaze myself at how well things turn out when I am done. I am one of those people that has to fully invision the finished product in my brain before I go forward with a project. Sometimes it happens quickly, sometimes it's contemplated for a while. I find when it is things that I really love, like a new paper line or blank mini album that I am head over heels for that I tend to put a lot more thought into it. I'm too afraid of messing up something I love so much. But man, once I get that clear mental image of what the finished product is going to look like, I'm off and running.
It's rare that I sit down with my products and just start cutting and adhereing here and there, embellish this, embellish that and then I have a finished product. But on the rare occassion that I do, I think these are the times that I amaze myself the most. Probably because there was no clear mental image before I started so the end product is just as big of a suprise to me as it would be to you looking at it for the first time. The following is one of those rare moments. It's a mini album that I created for a gift again. It actually went along with the "Grow" album. Rather this one is for everyday pictures of the new baby.

Here is the cover and a few of the inside pages. It had quite a few pages, so I won't post them all.
Products: Paper and Stamps, Teresa Collins; Cardstock, Bazzill; Flowers, Prima. Other: Cat Eye Chalk Ink, Ribbon, Zutter Bind-it-all.

One of my favorites...

I love Teresa Collins' paper lines. Her new baby paper is not only cute for baby stuff but the designs are still practical for regular pages.  This is a mini album I made for a baby shower gift. I used the calendar page and just cut it up into the separate months. I simply cut black and pink paper to match and alternated colors. I attached the month to the top page so that a picture could be attched to the bottom facing page. I used one of the TC predesigned envelopes for the front and back covers and added some embullishments and a title. Then I used my bind-it-all to put it all together in a nice little book.  All my cousin had to do was add the picture below the correct month, circle the date in the month the picture was taken and add any notes wanted, such as weight and height.

Just don't forget when binding it together to start with the month that the baby is due.

Speaking of getting married...

Here is a layout I made about Danny and I registering for gifts. We had a great time, they gave us a handheld scanner and off we went. Wedding colors are purple and green.

I like to incorporate different size pictures on my layouts, like the wallets on the right.

Scrapbook Room In Progress...

I'm getting married in 16 days!! Lucky me at my new home-to-be(aka-Fiance's house) I get a scrapbook room. It's a work in progress right now. With all the wedding planning that's been happening over the last few months, I've only given it enough time to move my stuff into it and hang a few pictures. Needless to say its a huge work in progress. There are some cabinets that are sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Tons of organization that needs to take place and a lot more "artsy fartsy" stuff that needs to be put out! No complaints just can't wait to really focus on it and make it my own.

Here's a little sneak peak... the other half is just way too messy to share!

Here is my ribbon organization in the closet...
